Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL
141 PM EDT Thu May 15 2025
.DISCUSSION...
Upper-level ridging will continue building over the Gulf and then
will hold over the region through the weekend and mid-week. At the
surface, the Atlantic ridge axis over the peninsula will shift
southward a bit late this weekend, with no impacts other than a wind
shift to more variable. This overall setup will lead to above-normal
high temperatures (mid to upper 90s away from the coast) and low
rain chances through much of the next 7 days. There are some early
indications that a frontal boundary will try to drop into the region
next Thursday, with increasing moisture bringing a small rain
chance, but that`s really the only thing of note for today`s
forecast other than the heat.
&&
.AVIATION...
(18Z TAFS)
VFR conditions are expected through the forecast period.
&&
.MARINE...
High pressure extending across Florida will support generally
southwesterly flow north of Tampa Bay, and southerly to
southeasterly flow from around Tampa Bay south, turning onshore with
the afternoon sea breeze. This pattern will hold through the first
half of the weekend, then the high shifts south resulting in more
variable flow. No headlines expected.
&&
.FIRE WEATHER...
Relative humidity values will drop into the upper 30s for parts
of the region over the next couple of days, but no Red Flag
conditions are expected. Some patchy fog is expected tonight, but
no significant visibility restrictions are anticipated.
